Hi friends .. How are you all ? Wether is cool nowadays .. In the month of February its so chilled ..

  1. We Indians are very foody and always want to try some  new dishes.. Indian food consist of a wide variety of a regional and traditional cuisine native to the Indian sub-continent.

Today we are making a savoury fried snack from South India (bengal gram fritters) chana dal vada .. This is one of the favourite snack of my guests ..
Whenever i make it everybody likes it so much ..

One of the crispy crunchy snack which is favourite of all ..

I love to have this dal vada with green chutney or tomato ketchup with a cup of hot tea .. so much of taste just can't explain in words ..

It is a very popular street snack in south India .. My younger son like it very much .. actually he inspired me to make this vada's o(fritters) ..During his studies in Banglore he use to eat this fritters daily on a stall near his college. An old women made the vada's there and my son always says .. O Mom i just love the vada amma makes ..

Whenever he come home in holidays  he missed those fritters and one day he asked me "Mom why don't you try to make it at home"?

I am missing those grams fritters.and first time I made these bengal gram fritters at
home ..

It is an easy recipe with so much of taste ..

All you need to make these fritters is

Ingredients...

  1. Chana dal ( bengal gram) 1 cup
  2. Onion 2 chopped
  3. Ginger 1tsp chopped
  4. Green chillies 4 chopped
  5. Spinach one bowl .chopped
  6. Dry red chilli powder ( optional)
  7. Coriander .. chopped 2tsp
  8. Salt to taste
Musturd oil for frying

Wash and soak chana dal (bengal gram ) in a water for 3-4 hours .. drain the water  transfer drained dal into the grinder . Grind untill medium coarse texture. It should be okay if a few dal remains ( it will give a nice crunch to it ) one useful tip .. do not add water for grinding if necessary use only one or two teaspoon water only ..

Transfer it to the bowl and add chopped onions, greenchilies, ginger ,spinach and coriander and salt

Mix well mixture should not be very moist or dry if it seems too dry then take a half of the mixture and grind it again for a min and mix it with remaining mixture.

And if it is two moist then add some rice flour or gram flour to the batter and now shape the vada ..Grease your hands with oil and take a lemon size of dal mixture give it a round shape and flatten it .

Place all flitters in a plate .heat  oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame .when oil is medium hot slide 2-3 vada's in oil from the side of a pan and deep fry them until golden brown and crispy ... Transfer them to a  plate on a paper napkin ..serve hot with your favourite sauce ..
